Carolina Sardi Resume

NEW ORLEANS---Heriard-Cimino Gallery presents Wall Sculptures by Carolina Sardi. An Opening Reception to meet the artist will be held on Saturday, December 1st, from 6 to 8 p.m. The exhibition will be on view December 1st through December 29th, 2007. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10 to 5, or by appointment.

Carolina Sardi’s new steel Wall Sculptures have an organic sensibility that reflects the artist’s interest in the basic interactions of life. The reference to geometry and natural shapes are a response to the search for the balance between opposites in her art.

The artist discusses, “The steel pieces that create these compositions are placed upon the walls but separated from the surface, creating a floating effect in the space that is enhanced by lights and shadows. The blank walls become the medium and support for each one of these installations. The color, or absence of it is used to emphasize the strength of each shape and its placement in the space. The concept behind it is as important as the image.”

Sardi moved from her home in Argentina, establishing herself in Miami in 1995. Her work has been exhibited throughout the world. Group Shows include the Corcoran Gallery in Washington D.C., Museum of Art, Fort Lauderdale, Organization of the American States Museum in Washington D.C., and in private and public collection in the United States, Europe and Latin America. Sardi received her M.F.A. in Sculpture at Facultad de Bellas Artes, Universidad Nacional de La Plata, Argentina and her B.F.A. at Bachillerato de Bellas Artes, U.N.L.P., Argentina.
