NEW ORLEANS - Heriard-Cimino Gallery presents Systems, new paintings by Deborah Pelias. This exhibition will be on view from October 4th through October 25, 2008. A reception to meet the artist will be held on Saturday, October 4th from 6 until 9 p.m., in conjunction with the Art for Arts’ Sake yearly celebration. The public is invited. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 until 5, or by appointment.

The genesis of Deborah Pelias’ new series of paintings, Systems, are compositional variations on complex numerical themes – the results of which are rhythmically diaphanous floating universes of overlapping patterns. These new works continue Pelias’ examination of the union of structure with spontaneity. Pelias is noted as an accomplished colorist. Incorporating her brilliant color tones with her layered patterning and translucent shrouds, she creates with these elements, an alchemy of seductive and mystical beauty.

Deborah Pelias was born in New Orleans, LA, where she received her B.A. from the University of New Orleans and where she currently works and resides. Her paintings can be found in numerous private and public collections throughout the country. This is Deborah Pelias’ fourth solo exhibition at Heriard-Cimino Gallery.
