NEW ORLEANS - Heriard-Cimino Gallery presents But Wait! There’s More! , an exhibition of paintings by Michael Northuis. The exhibition will be on view from April 4 - 28, 2009. A reception will be held on Saturday, April 4, from 6 until 8 p.m. The public is invited. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 - 5:00, or by appointment.

Northuis’ recent paintings continue his steadfast embrace of the idiosyncratic, often expressed in rigorous technique. These neo-mannerist works continue an odyssey through the fantastical sub and counter-cultures of Northuis’ personal American landscape, traversing from subdued, brushy transparent colors through densely rich hues. Northuis’ paintings are complex investigations into the artist’s imagination and the nature of humanity.

Michael Northuis received his M.F.A. from the University of North Carolina and his B.A. cum laude, at Hope College in Michigan. His work has been exhibited in the 41st Biennial Exhibition of Contemporary American Painting at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington D.C., and the 1998 Triennial at the New Orleans Museum of Art. He has had numerous exhibitions in Washington D.C. and throughout the southeast. Northuis lives and works in Greensboro, North Carolina.
